DECC feed in tariff review - news & changes

Overview

The solar feed in tariff scheme has proved so popular that the DECC solar feed in tariff review has concluded that new feed in tariff changes will take effect from the 12th December 2011. Whilst this is 'officially' still a consultation document, it seems clear that to protect the public finances from paying a return far higher than originally anticipated to home-owners, the changes will take effect from this date.

DECC feed in tariff changes for pv solar panel installations are anticipated to be tied in to a properties energy performance certificate(EPC) and can be financed through the new Green Deal financial initiative

We have summarised the situation as it stands right now, but please be aware, this is based on DECC proposals which are not absolutely confirmed yet and so may be subject to change.

In summary, despite the feed in tariff reductions, pv solar panels still represent a very good investment option for home-owners. It should be noted however, that we are still awaiting DECC clarification on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) requirement for installations after April 2012. This could have a significant impact on the investment opportunity after April 2012.
